Site Purpose

The purpose of my website will be to teach those who want to learn how to build a business website using a template website builder. Based on the knowledge from an earlier class at BYU- Idaho this site will include different options for, a website builder, hosting, and the set-up from the ground up of a web business. One of the main focuses will be on building an e-commerce business, using different methods of finding, ordering and selling products online.

Target Audience

With the formation of the internet came a multitude of business opportunities. These opportunities are not only for the large established businesses or the wealthy with endless resources, but for the everyday person looking for a way to express his or her ideas and create a source of revenue. Onlinebusinesslesson.com looks to become a real asset to these everyday people who have big ideas. More specifically the type of person who would be interested are those who may be in a dead end job and looking for a new way to make a living. Or, someone who has a steady job that they are satisfied with but are looking to make supplemental income. Also those who have a great product or a business idea that they are excited about and want to get to the market. The typical age could vary greatly, from a 12-year-old with an entrepreneur spirit, or a 70-year-old with a good idea or who wants to try something new. But it is the 20 to 40-year-old range that is the expected audience of onlinebusinesslesson.com.

Personas

Kyle Woodward

Kyle Woodward is a 34-year-old middle manager for Home Depot for the past 10 years. He makes $50,000 per year but can’t see himself working for Home Depot the rest of his life. He has a friend who does fairly well with an e-commerce business that she started a few years ago. His friend works from the comfort of home, has flexibility that comes from not having a boss and enjoys the satisfaction of being the captain of her own ship. Kyle dreams about someday starting an e-commerce business himself but doesn’t know where to start.

Julie Moore

Julie Moore is a stay at home mother of four girls with the last one starting school for the first time. This will give Julie extra time to realize a business idea she’s had for a long time. She has a knack for making jewelry and accessories for women. All of her friends love her headbands, earrings and other crafts. She thinks that with a website and some marketing her crafts would sell “like hotcakes!”. She thinks that a website where customers can get a good idea of who she is and what her products are, and can purchase her products is the first step. With so much on the internet trying to sell her their website building tools and templates, and with so much advice on how to go about starting this business, she doesn’t know where to start.
